In a truck stop outside of Houston
a young woman cried into a phone
voice shaking with desperation
you could hear it in her tone

"I ain't gonna take no more of this
I've had enough," she said
"and if the bitch hits me again, I swear
I'll pull a gun and shoot her dead"

such a sad state of affairs if anyone really cares
one of the saddest things I've ever seen
she was willing to take up arms against the girl who meant her harm her troubled daughter, a delinquent at fifteen
